Main parameter: •Particle Size Range: 0.2 μm to 1600 μm in diameter • Volume: 0.004 μm3 to 2.14 x 109 μm3 NOTE The upper size limit is dictated by solution viscosity and particle density, and the lower limit by the aperture size, solution conductivity, and environmental conditions. • Pulse data: Up to 525,000 pulses per analysis • Linearity for 2% to 60% of aperture diameter: ± 1% for diameter, ± 3% for volume • Aperture tube sizes: 10 μm to 2000 μm apertures (nominal sizes). Each size allows the measurement of particles in a range of 2% to 80% of aperture diameter. • Aperture current range: 30 μA to 6000 μA in 1 μA steps • Aperture current accuracy: ± 0.4% of setting • Polarity error: Less than 0.5% • Time mode range: 0.01 to 1000 seconds, selectable in 10-ms increments • Metered sample volumes (volumetric mode only): Continuously selectable from 10 μL to 2000 μL • Volumetric pump accuracy: Better than 99.5%

Introduction of instruments:

The Multisizer 4e Coulter Counter is a highly versatile particle counting and characterization system.

It uses the Coulter principle to detect particles via electrical zone sensing, regardless of the particle’s nature or optical properties. This makes it an ideal tool for detecting and counting a wide variety of particles, such as:

  • Mammalian cells

  • Bacteria

  • Yeast

  • Abrasives

  • Toner particles

  • Cell aggregates

  • Spheroids

  • Large protein aggregates

In addition to counting particle density, the Multisizer 4e Coulter Counter can also determine particle volume and shape. For example, changes in cell volume are an important factor in many biological processes, such as cell growth, cell cycle, cell apoptosis, osmotic stress compensation, pathogenesis, and phagocytosis.
